Router information
Super-fast fibre broadband
If you have a non-BT router
Most modem/routers are not compatible with the technology used with fibre. You will therefore need to swap your existing modem/router for the BT Business Fibre Hub which provides the connection required to maximise fibre usage. A BT engineer will set-up the BT Business Fibre Hub with default settings for you to customise as you wish. If you already have BT Business Total Broadband with a Business Hub, the engineer will copy your existing settings across to the new one. The engineer will also connect one of your computers to the Hub to provide a working Internet connection.
Non-BT broadband router with integrated site-to-site VPN
If you currently have a router providing site to site VPN, it may be possible for this to continue once fibre is installed. However, the engineer performing your installation will not be able to assist with reconnection of this equipment. In this situation the engineer will install your BT Business Fibre Hub and connect one of your computers to prove a working Internet connection. Support of the VPN is your responsibility.
Static IP
If you are moving to BT from another provider, your static IP address will change and you are advised to update any applications which may be affected by this, for example web hosting. If you are moving from one BT Business Total Broadband product to Fibre on the same line, your Static IP will remain the same.
Power requirements
You'll need 2 power sockets to power both the modem and BT Business Fibre Hub and these must be within 1 metre of one another. The modem will need to be positioned on a firm service, or wall mounted.
