Increase flexibility with a Virtualised IT infrastructure
BT Data Centre Services
BT Virtual Data Centre Services (VDC)
Respond more rapidly to changing business needs whilst reducing costs, increasing reliability and lowering your carbon footprint with BT Virtual Data Centre (VDC).
What is BT Virtual Data Centre?
BT's Virtual Data Centre (VDC) is a pre-provisioned hosted data centre infrastructure that enables you to create, deploy, monitor and manage your own service on demand through a secure self service portal.
The flexibility provided by VDC means that it can accommodate many application hosting requirements. VDC is a service based on a virtualised infrastructure (server, storage and network). VDC is provisioned through a customer portal which provides automated delivery of the service and enables you to make many in-life changes, on demand. VDC has a provision lead time of 5 days with most service changes then being made within 1 hour.
All of this comes together with a service wrap and a Service Level Availability of 99.9%.
Why Would I Need BT VDC?
Moving onto our VDC platform could give your business the agility and flexibility it needs. It could also help save management time and hardware costs.
Ask yourself or your IT Manager (if you have one) a few questions about your business:
- Do you have servers you are thinking of Virtualising?
- Do you have seasonal demands that require more processing, storage or network connectivity at certain times of the year?
- Do you need a new test/development environment outside of your current IT Infrastructure?
- Do you have a new application that you are going to develop?
- Do you have a new application that you want to deploy across your business
- Are you looking for a Pay As You Grow model for your IT Infrastructure?
If you answer yes to some of these questions then VDC could be the right service for you so it would be worth talking to one of our specialists.
Who will benefit from VDC?
You'll benefit from VDC if you have a large number of servers, operating systems and applications - especially if they are spread over a number of sites - typically 8 or more small servers, 4 medium servers or 2 large servers.
Typical savings from VDC
As well as saving valuable time and resources, a virtualised server solution could save you more than 65% over the cost of a conventional hosted server.
