BT Office Anywhere
Q. Exactly what connections does an Office Anywhere device provide?
A. Office Anywhere offers:
- A GSM/GPRS Mobile Service from BT Mobile
- A BT Business hosted exchange email service that pushes exchange e-mail to the Windows® Mobile device over GPRS
- A Mobile VoIP service from BT that uses a VOIP client pre-loaded on the Windows Mobile device. This client will allow voice calls to be made within Wi-Fi range of any Wi-Fi hotspot or access point (providing that you have permission to use it. Some service providers charge for internet access). Only available on HTC handsets
- BT Business Email (you may have this already). BT will also support organisations running Microsoft® Exchange Server 2003 on their own server
- Optional BT Openzone access allowing data access (Internet browsing) at any Openzone hotspot. Only available on HTC handsets
Q. How do I ensure that calls to UK landlines are made over VoIP when I'm within range of a WiFi hotspot?
A. Before you can use the VoIP channel you may need to connect to the WiFi hotspot manually, entering the hotspot security key. Typically this will only be required the first time you connect. The green VoIP icon will then display on the screen. You can set the client to advise as to which network to use, for example, To ensure that the GSM network is not used, select the option 'Broadband only' on the VoIP settings.
Q. What kinds of handset are available?
A. Handsets currently available are the new Windows Mobile powered Samsung C6625.
Q. Can I use Office Anywhere on my Blackberry?
A. No, this is not possible.
Q. Can I include Office Anywhere in my BT One Plan and BT One Plan Plus?
A. Yes. Office Anywhere costs are eligible for inclusion in BT One Plan and BT One Plan Plus and contribute to your total spend.
Q. How is Office Anywhere billed?
A. Office Anywhere is billed monthly on a single bill for your GSM, Mobile VoIP and Business E-mail (if required).
Monthly payment by Direct Debit is a mandatory requirement to take the service.
Q. Can I upgrade my current BT Mobile to Office Anywhere?
A. If you wish to switch from BT Mobile to Office Anywhere and your BT Mobile contract has not run its minimum term, a penalty charge will be payable for early termination.
Q. I already have BT Business Email. Will I receive a second email address with Office Anywhere?
A. No. Office Anywhere will either use your existing BT Business Email address, or if you require an e-mail address then BT Business E-mail will be provided.
Q. Do I have to decide how much BT Openzone access I need when I place my order for Office Anywhere?
A. No. You can order BT Openzone access at any time.
