FAQs
BT FeatureLine
Do I need any new equipment to use these great features?
You don't need any new equipment to use these great features as they are all programmed on your line from the BT exchange. What you will need to remember is to dial "9" prior to making an external call.
Why do I need to dial '9' before making an outgoing calls?
Featureline & Featureline Compact provides you with a call management system on your line. To enable these features to work, your line is connected to dedicated equipment in the BT local Telephone Exchange which requires you to dial '9' to instruct it that you wish to make an external call.
Do I need to re-programme my equipment because of dialling outgoing calls?
Yes, with Featureline & Featureline Compact you must prefix outgoing calls with a 9. If you have equipment such as phones and fax machines that memorise numbers, these will need to be reprogrammed to include the 9.
Will Featureline & Featureline Compact work with DECT cordless phones?
Yes, you can use Featureline with any recent BABT (British Approvals Board for Telecommunications) approved phone.
Can I use the same line for Featureline and Broadband?
If you have standard Featureline and the line is part of a Hunt Group, you cannot use it for Broadband.
Would Featureline affect my burglar alarm?
It may do. If your line is used by a burglar alarm, we do not recommend converting it to Featureline.
Where do I find out how to make the features work?
We will send you a user guide when you order the service (you can also download a copy below). You set up the features using your phone keypad.
